SENTINEL is a real-time situational awareness app that surfaces public safety alerts, country risk briefings, and route guidance. This page answers the most common questions and explains how to get help.
SENTINEL uses your location only while the app is open to compute area risk, find nearby alerts, and plan routes. Location is never sold or shared, and you can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → SENTINEL.
Most live feeds are heaviest in the United States and major global capitals. If a feed has no current activity in your area, you'll see "no active alerts" — that's a good thing. Try expanding the radius or checking the country briefing for higher-level context.
Data is pulled in real time from public sources every time you open a screen or pull to refresh. Sources include USGS, NWS, FEMA IPAWS, NASA EONET/FIRMS, NOAA NHC, GDELT, ReliefWeb, GDACS, MTA, Amtrak, MBTA, BART, SEPTA, and other public agencies.
AI briefings require an internet connection and may take a few seconds. If they consistently fail, restart the app. If the issue persists, email support with the country or city you were viewing.
SENTINEL doesn't require an account and does not store personal data on our servers. To remove all locally stored preferences, simply delete and reinstall the app.
Open iOS Settings → Notifications → SENTINEL and confirm notifications are allowed. Then open the app and toggle alerts off and on once to re-register the device.
No. SENTINEL is informational only. In a life-threatening situation, call your local emergency number (911 in the US) immediately.
